tw self harm/drinking ment, suicide
His whole life, Kennith was isolated from the crowd. He was harshly, and sometimes violently, bullied for being cold and reserved, presenting femininely, and once middle school started, for being openly gay. This changed during 10th grade, when a freshman approached him, concerned with how lonely he looked. Despite Kennith giving her the cold shoulder at first, the freshman persisted in becoming his friend. As the year went on, Stephanie and Kennith became closer and closer until they were best friends. Kennith also became friendly with one of the local gas station workers, Greg, but not nearly as close as he was with Stephanie.
The remaining three years of high school were the best years of his life. Stephanie taught him how to ignore the hatred he received on a daily basis, just kick back, and have fun with life for once. Like all good experiences, though, the twoβs friendship came to a screeching halt. In an argument over Kennithβs self-destructive habits (self-harm, drinking, and drug use), Stephanie said some things with unintentionally insensitive connotation. Kennith interpreted this as hypocritical, criticizing her for not caring enough to understand his struggles. In turn, Stephanie interpreted this as Kennith being irrational and expecting too much from her, and stormed out.
The argument ate at Kennith for a few days, twisting his perception of their entire friendship. She never cared about him to begin with, she was only using him for more friends, she thought he was better off dead. The whole world thought he was better off dead. This inspired Kennith hijack a nation-wide television broadcast, presenting his own hypnotizing, mind-controlling program called Colorbars with the intent of committing mass-suicide.
